Yes they can,
but they are not born knowing how to program,
the darn things have to be taught!
  • If you are a kid who would like to learn computer programming ...
  • If you are a professional teacher or parent teacher ...
This Web Site is a great place to learn computer programming!
Is This A Free Site?
Currently this site is a work in progress and you have unrestricted access to the entire site. I do sell MicroWorlds products and they are available to purchase on line. At some point in the future I will be making part of the site available only to my customers as a thank you to those who choose to support my efforts by buying their single user or site license from us, HVAC Computer Systems Ltd.. However there will always be a strong public section as well.

Why are you doing this?
I truly enjoy careful, creative programming and have learned quite a bit over 17 years as a professional programmer. I think of it as a creative activity and think that children should be introduced to it. Programming the wrong way can be frustrating and yet just a few changes can make it very rewarding and fun.

Can I print out the lessons?
Only with my permission. Please email don@ottawa.com and let me know who you are and where or how you plan to use them. I will reply with a URL that has all the pages collected into one and formatted for printing. You will be able to print all pages at once!

How do I navigate the site?
The site is organized very simply, like a book. You are reading the jacket. Inside there is a table of contents. Just start at the first page and continue from one page to the next as time permits.

Upload Your Own Projects!
Coming soon! You will soon be able to upload projects to our Web server for all the world to see and actually run, if they have the plug-in (see page 12). For now, if you have a project that you would like me to put on the site, just send it as an email attachment to don@ottawa.com.

I just want some "Computer Basics" lessons!
Please visit my other site KidsAndComputers. There are lessons there that will help you with computer basics such as files. View my daughters earlier work with MicroWorlds, also more general descriptions of the products. Includes general computer lessons, Montessori and a Virtual Conference!
